OSP and FBI collaborate to investigate activities of Cecilia Dapaah

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) and the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) have initiated concurrent investigations into the activities of former Sanitation Minister, Cecilia Dapaah and her associates in the United States of America.

In a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, October 11, the OSP disclosed that these investigations primarily focus on examining their assets and financial transactions within the United States of America.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor said the collaborative effort is to ascertain the lawfulness of the former Sanitation Minister and her associates’ wealth.

“Both in the context of their funds transitioning from Ghana to the United States and vice versa,” the OSP said in the post.

Cecilia Dapaah dominated the headlines in July 2023 when after the Chronicle Newspaper reported that she had filed a lawsuit against two of her house helps at the Accra Circuit Court for allegedly stealing monies and items running into millions of Ghana Cedis.

Following public backlash after the news broke out, Ms. Dapaah stepped down from her position.

In her resignation letter addressed to the President, Madam Dapaah said she decided to step down “because I do not want this matter to become a preoccupation of government and a hindrance to the work of government at such a crucial time.”
