The Artisanal Palm Oil Millers and Outgrowers Association of Ghana has cautioned some of the buyers who mix chemicals with its oil to halt such practice because it will destroy their market.
The President of Artisanal Palm Oil Millers and Outgrowers Association stated during a 2-day workshop for palm oil producers in Kweabibremu Municipality in the Eastern Region.
Speaking to the media, the producers expressed their worry over how some of their buyers mix chemicals like Sudan which affects consumers’ health and their market in and outside the country.
The President for Artisanal Palm Oil Millers and Outgrowers Association Chairman Paul Amarning said he’s constituting a team with the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) and they are using a system called traceability to track down those who use the Sudan chemical in the palm and also help them to do proper packaging on their products which will prevent them from mixing with the chemicals.
The Regional Director of the Food and Drug Authority Madam Anita Owusu Kufour advised the palm oil producers to desist from chemical usage, and do proper packaging and business registration for their works to excel.
