Politics must not eclipse progress of the NPP – David Asante Boateng

As the National New Patriotic Party (NPP) navigates the path toward the 2024 elections, Managing Director of Ghana Publishing Company, Mr. David Asante Boateng, a devoted supporter of Dr. Bawumia, has issued a plea expressing concern over party divisions and outside influences.

Mr. Asante Boateng speaking during a recent radio interview urged party members, particularly flagbearer aspirants to set aside their differences and uphold the unity necessary for electoral triumph in 2024.

With a focus on the party’s achievements and the importance of a collective vision, he encouraged contestants like Mr. Kyerematen to rally behind Bawumia’s candidacy for a stronger NPP.

On Saturday, August 26, 2023, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) orchestrated a special delegates conference aimed at streamlining the roster of potential party leaders for the upcoming 2024 elections.

During the voting, Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia emerged as the frontrunner, securing an impressive 629 votes, which accounted for 68.15% of the total votes cast. Following closely was Kennedy Agyapong, who garnered 132 votes, equivalent to 14.30% of the ballots. Alan Kyerematen and Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto secured the third and fourth positions with 95 and 36 votes, respectively.

Francis Addai-Nimoh and Boakye Agyarko secured 9 votes each and are headed for a run-off on September 2 to determine who emerges 5th.

Meanwhile, the Presidential Elections Committee of the NPP has condemned all acts of violence and disruptive incidents which characterised voting in some centres during the Special Delegates Conference election on Saturday.

In a statement issued last Monday, August 28, 2023, the committee, therefore, urged any member of the party who witnessed any incidents that compromised the integrity of the electoral process to present a petition to the committee for resolution.

“While the majority of voting centres conducted their operations seamlessly, we have taken note of engagement of some agents with the media pointing to some unfortunate isolated incidents.

The committee condemns all such occurrences and underscores our resolute dedication to upholding the integrity of the election process,” it explained.
