Traditional leaders refute claims A Plus donated ‘expired’ drugs to Gomoa Obuasi Clinic

Traditional leaders and residents of Gomoa Obuasi in the Gomoa Central District of the Central Region have refuted claims that Kwame Asare Obeng popularly known as A Plus, an aspiring independent parliamentary candidate, donated expired medical consumables to the health directorate.

They believe the claims being made are politically motivated. .

According to the traditional authorities of Gomoa Obuasi, the items that have been donated to the Gomoa Obuasi Clinic by A Plus are being rejected by the Gomoa Central District Health Directorate for political reasons as he is contesting for the parliamentary seat of the area.

The independent parliamentary candidate, A Plus donated some medical supplies to the Gomoa Obuasi Health Center.

However, the health directorate declared some of the consumables as expired.

It is reported that the development caused a brief altercation between supporters of of A Plus and the incumbent Member of Parliament, Naana Eyiah Quansah, and the District Chief Executive of the area Benjamin Otoo declaring the supplies expired in a news report.

Reacting to the development, the traditional leaders led by the Odikro of Gomoa Obuasi, Nana Kobina Atta intimated that the supplies are not expired and must be received for the benefit of residents as the health center lacks the drugs and other medical equipment donated by A Plus.

Some residents of the community who spoke to Metro News also share the same sentiment that the rejection of the medical supplies is politically motivated. They have called on the health directorate to receive the items.

They say a rejection of the items will be detrimental to the quality of healthcare delivery.

However, the District Chief Executive for the area, Benjamin Kojo Otoo has parried the claims that the rejection of some of the items is politically motivated.

He says a critical observation of the items by experts revealed that some of the items were actually expired and that even though the donor was invited he failed to show up.
