Following former President Mahama’s declaration of intent and subsequent picking of nominations forms to contest for the NDC flagbearer position, the ruling NPP has served notice that they are not disturbed about the candidature of the former president.
According to the party, they cannot lose sleep to worry about a man who has nothing significant to show during his tenure as president.
Addressing the media on Wednesday, February 22, 2023, Director of Communications for the NPP, Richard Ahiagbah said the party has a track record of defeating John Mahama and the NDC twice in general elections hence the upcoming 2024 presidential elections will not be different.
He therefore assured the supporters and sympathizers of the party that the NPP is ready to face John Dramani Mahama and the NDC come 2024 hence they should not be afraid.
“We have beaten him twice, so you just conclude for yourself if we are afraid of him. It is all mathematical, and we have defeated him twice. He is even afraid to plainly declare whether he is going to contest or not. We are ready for him,” the Director of Communications of the NPP emphasized.
Mr. Ahiagbah however indicated that what gives the NPP sleepless night is how to improve Ghana’s economy and not matters of John Mahama and the NDC as far as 2024 General Elections is concerned.
“We are interested in how we can build our economy, and we want to know whether he has the solution because we saw him vanquish the gains that he got, and we saw him collapse our economy and banking sector. He doesn’t have what it takes to improve Ghana because if he had what it took to do that, he wouldn’t have vanquished our economic gains and taken us to the IMF,” Richard Ahiagbah noted.
