We’re disappointed Ken Agyapong couldn’t secure majority votes in Central Region – Team

Central Regional Campaign lead for Kennedy Agyapong, Kojo Asemanyi, has expressed disappointment at the results obtained by the candidate in the Central Region.

Being the home region of the candidate, the team expected to beat all other candidates but came second to Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia.

Earlier, Mr. Agyapong said his impactful developmental initiatives speak volumes and he will win the region by at least 80%

“At least I will get 80%, no doubt about it. I will get 80% so we should rest assured because they’re going to honour me due to my commitment to the region.

“I think everybody you talk to – all the delegates know what I’ve done for Central region and they think it’s also time to honour me,” he said.

But the outspoken legislator secured just 19 votes at the end of the voting.

Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia who won the majority of votes polled 25 votes.

Former Trade Minister Alan John Kwadwo Kyerematen got 4 votes.

Former Agric Minister Afriyie Akoto garnered 3 votes.

Joe Ghartey, Kojo Poku, and Boakye Agyarko earned a vote each.

Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Dr. Konadu Apraku, and Francis Addai Nimo failed to garner any ballots at all.

Meanwhile, the Kennedy Agyapong Team is expressing optimism that the ordinary delegates will have the business mogul as their choice to lead the party in the final conference scheduled for November 4.

The Super Delegates Congress is being held to elect five presidential aspirants to contest the party’s primaries in November this year.

The top five candidates who receive the most votes will participate in the NPP’s primary to be chosen as its flagbearer for the 2024 general election.
