₵124,000 lost to job scams – CSA

Ghanaians are advised to exercise caution after receiving a warning from the Cyber Security Authority (CSA) over a notable increase in employment scams in the country.

The CSA has at least 15 reports of cybercrime through its reporting systems, with victims’ losses totaling more than GH₵124,000.

The techniques used by the con artists revolve around assuming the identity of recruiters and reaching out to gullible people with tempting job offers.

For individuals who are familiar with real employment markets, these dishonest offers frequently raise obvious red flags since they promise high compensation along with low work requirements.

In a statement, the CSA advised, “If it appears too good to be true, it is likely a scam.”

The warning is part of an ongoing campaign to inform the public about the rising risk of bogus employment scams in the area.
