2024 Elections: Church of Pentecost intensifies peace campaign

The Church of Pentecost says it will intensify its campaign for peaceful elections to ensure that the 2024 elections become peaceful.

According to the leadership of the church, a dedicated team for the campaign has already began meeting with political leaders for peace dialogues.

The church is unhappy that elections in the country sometimes turn violent and even result in the death of individuals.

Some eight persons died during the 2020 elections, a development the church has condemned and says it does not wish to see a similar incident occurring in the elections ahead of Ghana in December.

To ensure violence-free elections, Chairman of the Church of Pentecost, Apostle Eric Nyamekye says, the church will intensify its peace campaign.

He says a dedicated team of which he is part has been formed to meet that expectation.

According to him, the team has already began engaging the most influential political leaders to dialogue about peace.

Although elections lead to the creation of tense atmospheres, the church leader has admonished against inciteful comments that could spark violence.

He spoke to Metro News at the church’s Global Ministers and Wives Conference which assembled all pastors of the church and their wives at the Pentecost Convention Center at Gomoa Fetteh in the Central Region.

Meanwhile, Apostle Eric Nyamekye says the church is embarking on a deliberate mission to raise leaders who are morally upright and wants the government to also focus on that direction.

He says that will ensure that the country gets leaders with high integrity and a corruption-free mindset which will propel development.
