2024 Elections: NDC members threaten reprisal attacks

Leadership of the National Democratic Congress in the Awutu Senya East Constituency are threatening to respond in equal measure any attack on their members before, during, and after the 2024 general elections over the police’s failure to fully investigate some attacks on their members in the past.

According to the agitated members of the opposition party, the Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson is reported to have mentioned in a radio interview that she’d ever relinquish the Kasoa Parliamentary Seat until she’s dead.

The party says it finds the statement an open declaration of the MP’s intention to resort to violence in the 2024 general elections as they accuse her of orchestrating same in the previous elections.

Speaking at a press conference, the NDC Constituency Youth Organizer, Nash Nyandey Adams said the party is ready to put matters in their own hands so far as security and safety of members are concerned.

The party has also expressed dissatisfaction with police investigations regarding an incident where some members of the party were shot on December 7, 2020.

The party has raised issues with how the then regional crime officer who was investigating the case was transferred by the police administration and believes the move affected thorough handling of the matter.

Ahead of 2024 elections, the members of the party say they will not trust the police for their safety and will retaliate any for of attack on their members in equal measure.
