24-hour economy: TEIN lauds Mahama’s initiative

The Tertiary Education Institutions Network (TEIN) of NDC has lauded former President John Dramani Mahama’s proposed 24-hour economy policy pledge.

According to the group, the pledge made by the former President is clearly an assurance that it will help create more jobs to reduce graduate unemployment in the country.

The group, which is an intellectual wing of the NDC believes the policy, coupled with industrialization, are the best driverpack to configure Ghana’s current terrible economic situation.

Consequently, TEIN is calling for an intellectual based argument in the 2024 electioneering campaign so that Ghanaian electorates can choose leaders with the best policy alternatives.

According to the group, the various policies being made by the NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama are snippets of what Ghanaian voters should expect from the NDC’s manifesto for next year’s elections.

They believe the policy interventions that are being hinted by John Mahama are exactly what Ghanaians are expecting from leadership

The TEIN members say, there have been broader consultations with related stakeholders to spread the message of the NDC flagbearer.

The Deputy Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the party, Gideon Hammond, said in an interview on the sideline of a handing over ceremony organized by executives of the Kings University College branch of TEIN over the weekend.

He said the next NDC government is committed to ensuring accelerated economic growth and expansion of all relevant sectors of the country’s economy hence the 24-hour economy proposal.

He said the 24-hour economy and a pledge to build a cashew processing plant in the Bono Region are all indications of the desire of the NDC to build a stronger economy for the country.

To this end, he said the party would rely strongly on its intellectual wing thus TEIN to propagate the party’s policies as it seeks to engage in intellectual campaign ahead of elections 2024.

For KUC TEIN, the party’s victory in the 2024 elections is non-negotiable but the newly elected executive agrees that it will not be an easy task regardless of the current economic hardship in the country.

Zambaga Rufai Saminu, the newly-sworn in President, therefore, charged members to be dedicated towards the party’s victory.

TEIN noted it welcomes the 24-hour economy policy announced by John Mahama as it offers students hope of securing employment after school.

The group also confirmed that the pledge by former President John Dramani Mahama to cancel licensure exams for trained teachers was equally good news.

Members of the group say they are well prepared to take the NDC’s campaign to a notch higher by sticking to intellectual based campaign strategies.
