Adomako Kissi Praises Akufo-Addo’s Gov’t For Fulfilling Free SHS Policy

The Member of Parliament for Anyaa Sowutuom, Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi, has lauded President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo for the implementation of the Free Senior High School (SHS) education policy to enhance the country’s manpower resources.

He said the effort of Nana Akufo-Addo had made a way for especially Junior High School graduates who because of financially-poor parental backgrounds could not have had the opportunity to attend SHS.

He said the free SHS policy had brought relief to parents who had over the years been burdened with the payment of exorbitant school fees of their children, adding that nationally the elimination of the financial constraints faced by many parents at the commencement of each academic year had created equal access to education for all qualified JHS graduates.

According to him, the Free SHS would help transform “poor and marginalized communities” across the country, indicating that “it will help to change the socio-economic structure of our district.”

“Considering the value of education to the nation, this must be one of the boldest policies of the nation but it also brings its challenges. It puts a huge strain on the national budget and raises further challenges about the creation of jobs for the increasing number of graduates. I am sure the brains assembled here in this audience and beyond will be reassured that Ghana is on the right path, ”Dr. Dickson Adomako Kissi exclusively told Kwaku Owusu Adjei on Adwenepa on Accra-based Original TV.

He said education was the pivot of development in every country and therefore stressed the need for traditional authorities, community, and opinion leaders to support the government in diverse ways to promote education to ensure that every child is enrolled in school.

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2017 launched the Free Senior High School Policy in fulfilment of his campaign promise ahead of the 2016 elections.
