AFCON 2023: Agyemang Badu describes Ghana’s campaign as shameful

Former Black Stars midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang Badu has described Black Stars 2023 Africa Cup of Nations campaign as shameful.

According to the 2009 U-20 World Cup winner, the performance of the Black Stars exhibited at the continents most prestigious competition in Ivory Coast was abysmal and does not befit the status of the four times AFCON champions.

In a Facebook post, the former Asante Kotoko and Udinese midfielder wrote: “Shameful, What a heck!” right after Ghana’s shocking 2-2 draw against the Mambas of Mozambique.

Ghana came into this year’s competition with high hopes of breaking the 42-year AFCON drought but as it stands the fate of the team hangs in a balance as the Black Stars are only hoping to progress in the competition through a miracle.

The metrics are that should former champions Cameroon draw with Gambia today in Group C, and Morocco beat Zambia and DR Congo also beat Tanzania in Group F on Wednesday, then Ghana will go through as on the four third-best placed teams.

Ghana only salvaged 2 points in three games in Group B

Emmanuel Agyemang Badu made 78 appearances for the Black Stars scoring on 11 occasions between the year of 2008-2017.
