Allow investigations into Cecilia Dapaah’s finances – Lawuratu Musah-Saaka to media

A communication team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Lawuratu Musah-Saaka, has urged the media to encourage the state institutions responsible for investigating Former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah’ s source of wealth to work diligently.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Monday, July 24, 2023, Madam Lawuratu conveyed her concern regarding the unfolding events of the court case and its potential consequences.

According to the NPP member, “When you hear huge sums of money in the times that we find ourselves in, of course, you will be alarmed, if you are not alarmed then you do not understand what is going on in this country.”

Nonetheless, “it doesn’t necessarily mean that they were acquired wrongly. No law mandates her to go and put her money in a bank and she has indicated that she is ready to cooperate with all state institutions so can we let the state institutions do their job?” Lawuratu said in defense of the former Minister for sanitation.

Meanwhile, the former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Dapaah, who resigned from her position on July 22, 2023, has been placed under arrest for alleged involvement in corruption and corruption-related offenses.

The arrest comes after large amounts of money and valuable items were reportedly stolen from her residence.

In her resignation letter to President Nana Akufo-Addo, she stated that she stepped down to prevent the matter from becoming a preoccupation of the government and hindering its work, especially during such a crucial time.
