Asantehene Destools Offinsohemaa

The Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, has destooled the queen mother of the Offinso Traditional Area, Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko, during the first Asanteman Traditional Council meeting for the year.

The destooling follows Nana Ama Serwaa Nyarko’s persistent denial to show up before Otumfuo Osei Tutu II after being summoned for supposed misbehavior.

The newly appointed Offinso chief, Nana Dwamena Akenteng II, was given instructions by the Asantehene on Thursday, January 11, to locate a new queen mother to uphold his throne.

After Nana Wiafe Akenten III passed away in October 2021, there were protests and disagreements among kingmakers over who should be nominated as the new chief, which gave rise to the Offinso stool debate.
