Awutu Senya West Assembly Members reject Akufo-Addo’s MCE nominee

The District Chief Executive nominee for Awutu Senya District Moses Arhinful Acquah did not meet the threshold required to be confirmed as the District Chief Executive.

The nominee garnered 19 Yes and 15 No votes, out of 35 members present.

President Akufo-Addo’s nominee for the District Chief Executive position for Awutu Senya West District, Moses Arhinful Acquah was rejected by assembly members at the confirmation ceremony to endorse him.

The DCE nominee garnered 19 Yes and 15 Nos out of a total of 35 assembly members who were present and took part in voting falling short of the two-third majority needed to endorse him.

Central Regional Minister Marigold Assan and some key members of the assembly after the voting process engaged the assembly members on why they need to endorse the President’s nominee.

Member of Parliament for the area, Gizella Tetteh Agbotui on her part called for cooperation from either side of the divide to ensure that the assembly functions effectively.

Moses Acquah’s nomination by President Akufo Addo was greeted with a mixed reaction as his political records as being unable to keep faith with a single political party were brought to bear. It is therefore believed that his rejection has been effected by assembly members who belong to his political party, the NPP.
