Charles Opoku will master the art of public speaking before 2024 elections – Ama Daaku replies critics

A communication team member of the governing New Patriotic Party, Ellen Ama Daaku, has slammed critics of Charles Opoku over his inability to eloquently express himself in public.

According to her, Mr. Opoku although seems to have some barriers to public speaking, he will master the art before the December 7, 2023 elections.

Many including the Central Regional Communication Officer of the National Democratic Congress, Ms. Gabriella Tetteh has described the failed NPP Assin North parliamentary candidate as unqualified to be a parliamentarian due to his lack of some leadership traits.

They singled out his abysmal public speaking to write him off.

However, speaking on Metro TV on Good Morning Ghana on Monday, July 3, 2023, Madam Ama Daaku asserted that critics are being too harsh on the young politician and that they should give him some leeway.

“He can’t speak [in public], I mean, the point is for him to win an election if I remember Mr, Gyakye Quayson in the build-up to the 2020 election was not much of a talker. It was when he realized that if he didn’t speak he was losing his seat that he got his act together and started speaking.

“Mr. Charles Opoku is a young man. He has a very long time ahead of him and I’m sure between now and 2024 when he would go again as the PC [parliamentary candidate] The communications issues and polishing and everything would be done,” Ama Daaku stated.

“It is just a matter of course,” she noted.

In the Assin North by-election, NDC’s James Gyakye Quayson won with 17,245 votes, representing 57.56 percent of the total votes cast, defeating Charles Opoku of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and Bernice Enyonam Sefenu of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG).
