CPP reminisces how Ghana could’ve been better off if Nkrumah was never overthrown

The Convention People’s Party (CPP) has blamed the current woes of the country on the unwarranted throw of their party from government on February 24,1966.

57 years on, the party recounts how Ghana has been plunged to deep seated and unfavorable economic situation, stagnating its development with no clear path to recovery.

Remembering the regrettable event in a statement on Friday, February 24, 2023, the party detailed Ghana’s chances of becoming one of the world’s best and was on its way to Economic transformation during the reign of CPP headed by Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.

“At the time of the coup d’etat Ghana was on the road to Economic transformation and this event brought doom and calamity to the nation which culminated in underdevelopment and socio-economic stagnation,” parts of the statement read.

Signed by the party’s General Secretary, Nana Yaa Akyempim Jantuah, the statement also forecast an economy which had industrialization as a driving force to a buoyant economy if the CPP was not ousted from office..

The leadership of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah saw companies like the Cocoa Processing Factory, Tata and Osas Transport Systems, and also the Akosombo Hydro Electric power plant, etc which aided economic freedom at the time.

However, today Ghana is referred to as a broke nation because of mismanagement and has resorted to tapping into the accounts of the vulnerable and ordinary citizen.

The party, therefore, urged Ghanaians to be bold and demand for accountability from the ruling party in order not to waste away the scarce resources of the country believing Ghanaians to give them a chance to make things right when voted into power.

The CPP further called on Ghanaians to vote in favour of the party in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections to return the country to its winning ways.
