Custom officer arrested for illegally demolishing public toilet in Aburi

The Akuapem South Municipal Security Council has apprehended Daniel Adjei, a custom officer, and his accomplice John Annan for the unlawful demolition of a public toilet that has been serving the Asuafum community in Aburi for the past 40 years.

The 12-seater KVIP facility has been a vital resource for the residents in the area.

According to reports, the suspects claimed to have purchased the land where the public facility is located two years ago.

However, this claim has thrown the residents of Asuafum into total disarray, as they rely on this essential amenity.

The authorities have taken swift action, and the suspects have been handed over to the Eastern Regional police command to assist in an investigation.

Daniel Asiamah, the Assembly Member for the Aburi West Electoral Area told the media the accused stormed the town with armed land guards to carry out the demolition.”

“When he tried to demolish the public toilet, the community members decided to approach them but the land guards Daniel Adjei, the Customs Officer, brought were equipped with deadly weapons,” Mr. Asiamah narrated.

The community hopes that justice will be served, and measures will be taken to ensure the restoration of this crucial public facility.

“We have engaged the community members and they are comforted because the MCE has referred the issue to the police,” he added.
