Danjuar Festival expected to be celebrated peacefully in the Tempane E District

The Danjuar Festival which is celebrated by the chiefs and people of the Bimoba community in Ghana, Togo, Burkina Faso and Niger is expected to take place at the Kpikpira Park in the Tempane District of the Upper East Region on Saturday, 24th February, 2024.

The festival is celebrated in honour of the juar gods for protecting the Muar people during days of distress in the past. It is climax by the slaughtering and sacrifices of animals to the gods.

History states that throughout wars and migration, the gurmas (Bimobas) took shelter from a mountain which served as defensive tool to the people. The mountain contained bees which was used to fight invaders who invaded their lands.

In gratitude, the people pacify the jour gods in every February to show gratitude to the mountain for its guidance. It is celebrated in Ghana, Togo, Niger and Burkina Faso including some parts of DR Congo.

This year, grandsons of Trumwa and their sympathisers all over the world is expected to troop in Kpikpira, a community in the Tempane District of Ghana for the festival.
