NDC deny access to Damongo Nursing & Midwifery College auditorium

The management of the Damongo Nursing & Midwifery Training College has denied the flagbearer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), John Dramani Mahama access to the college’s facility to host a town hall meeting on Sunday 25 February.

According to the regional organiser of the party, Sorku Yahuza, the principal of the school denied them the venue on grounds of meddling with politics.

Speaking on a local radio station based in Bole on Friday, he disclosed that a team from the party first approached some lecturers of the school about the program and were directed to write formally to the principal for consideration.

Sorku Yahuza narrated that upon submitting the letter, the principal Hajia Rabiatu Iddrisu assured them she was going into consultation with the necessary authorities and would get back to them.

However, Sorku Yahuza said she denied them the auditorium indicating that only the Tertiary Education Institution Network (TEIN) affiliated to the NDC and the Tertiary Students Confederation (TESCON) also affiliated to the NPP are allowed to use the public educational institution’s premises for political activities and not any political party.

Attempts to reach the principal of the school on phone for comments on the issue have proven futile.

The flagbearer is expected at Damongo his home region on Sunday where he would pay homage to the King and Overlord of the Gonja Traditional Council to seek his royal blessings before meeting with professional bodies as per the party’s flyer at the Damongo Nursing and Mid Wifery Training College.
