President Nana Akufo-Addo has urged Ghanaians not to politicize the flood crisis in the North, South, and Central Tongu constituencies of the Volta Region.

He said the consequences of the Akosombo Dam spillage should be a concern to everyone.

“Let everybody know that politics does not come into the issue when things like this occur and government acts. When I took the oath of office, I took it on behalf of everyone in Ghana. And whether they voted for me or not, I’m the president of the people,” President Akufo-Addo said during his visit to Mepe and the neighborhood on Monday, October 16 to assess the extent of the spill’s destruction.

He assured that the government would do everything in its power to ensure that those affected by the spillage He added that the spillage in the Eastern, Greater Accra, and Volta regions get the needed assistance.

He also noted that the inter-ministerial committee he appointed to handle flooding-related matters would decide on the immediate relief to be given to the victims as well as how to guarantee that a calamity of this magnitude did not occur again in the future.
