Don’t wait for 7 days, sue me today – Sam George dares GREEDA

Member of Parliament for Ningo Prampram constituency, Samuel Nartey George has challenged the Ghana Real Estate Developers Association (GREDA) to proceed with its threat to sue him if he does not withdraw his money laundering claims about its businesses.

According to him, although the ultimatum and threat do not scare him, he never mentioned GREDA in his allegation that the real estate industry is a money laundering hub in Ghana.

“I know people who are engaged in real estate, who are engaged in legitimate business but who are not part of GREDA. It is not correct that every real estate developer is part of GREDA. It is not mandatory to be part of GREDA. But for Ebo Bonful and his group, GREDA to wake up and begin to issue threats and ultimatum,” he said on Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana on Thursday, July 27, 2023.

“They shouldn’t wait 7 days. Today, this morning, they should go to court and sue me and see if they will have a cause of action,” Sam George exclaimed.

During his submission on Accra-based Joy News on Saturday, Sam George alleged that the real estate sector in the country is a front for money laundering hence calling on the authorities and government to keep an eye on the industry.

Following this comment, the GREDA in a statement described the assertion of the vociferous legislator as unguarded and irresponsible adding that it is unfortunate for the MP to make sake claims without any shred of evidence.

GREDA called on George to retract and apologize for the comment within the next 7 days or they consider seeking redress from the court.

“Members of our Association are hardworking Ghanaians who every day have to battle with the Economic conditions in the country as every other business sector is doing. It is, therefore, an affront to our genuine hardworking members for this Honorable MP to make such an unguarded and irresponsible utterance without offering any proof whatsoever,” parts of the statement read.

“We demand an immediate unqualified apology and retraction of this unfortunate statement within 7 days of this press statement,” GREEDA noted.
