Dr. Sam Ankrah calls for probe into Cecilia Dapaah’s finances

A Development Economist, Dr. Samuel Sarpong Ankrah is demanding an investigation into the finances of the Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, after it emerged that her house helps have allegedly stolen valuable items and millions of monies at her house in Abelempke, Accra.

He said the investigation should be “thoroughly” and “unbiasedly” carried out to ascertain her ability to provide sound reasoning in her position as Sanitation Minister considering the serious lack of discernment and wisdom in keeping such funds in her home.

“Such a blunder cannot be swept under the rug, with these same hands touching matters of public affairs,” he stated in a write-up on Friday, July 21, 2023.

According to Dr. Sam Ankrah, “Cecilia Dapaah’s issue of theft has unveiled a stunning image of the failures of Ghana’s governmental structures.”

He said although the theft is condemnable, it reflects how ordinary Ghanaians suffer with successive governments’ “broad daylight thefts” which he mentions “through taxes, levies, uncontrolled rents, unstable and unfair food price gouging, outlandish transportation fees, irresponsible school fees, unaccessible technological advancement, and a myriad of other broad daylight thefts”

“There is no concern for the thievery the average Ghanaian faces under the hands of tyrannical government,” he exclaimed.

“If you suffer your people to be ill-educated and their ethics corrupted from infancy, and then punish them for those crimes to which their first education disposed them, what else is to be concluded but that you first make thieves and then punish them?” Dr. Sam Ankrah quizzed.
