Find campaign message and stop politicizing National Cathedral project – Ahiagbah to NDC

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has been urged to reassess its campaign strategy and refrain from politicizing the National Cathedral project.

Richard Abiagbah, Communications Director of the NPP, emphasized the importance of maintaining a constructive dialogue surrounding the National Cathedral project.

“The NDC must find a message to campaign with and stop politicizing the National Cathedral project,” he stated on X formerly Twitter.

Abiagbah’s remarks come in response to growing tensions surrounding the project, which has become a focal point for political debate.

Although some consider the project as a significant symbol of faith and national unity, its implementation has been overshadowed by partisan interests.

The NDC which has been the main critic of the project, led by North Tongu MP, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, satirically commissioned the uncompleted National Cathedral project as a symbolic gesture aimed at highlighting the government’s perceived failure to finish the project.

However, Richard Abiagbah emphasized the significance of the National Cathedral project, dismissing criticisms and urging for unity in its realization. He explained “What I know is that the Cathedral project is a work in progress. If we persevere, it will be completed.”

He called for a shift towards constructive engagement and a commitment to reframing the discourse surrounding the National Cathedral project, adding that only through genuine dialogue and collaboration can the true potential of this historic initiative be realized.

“There are those who are trying their hardest to ridicule the exalted task of building a National Cathedral in honor of God. Well, that’s a poor idea because to build, one must dig, and if it is an elevated project like a National Cathedral, the kind we envision, then the foundation represents the heart of the project, hence the cost.“
