Garu DCE urges residents to elect first female MP

The District Chief Executive (DCE) for Garu, Ali Haruna, has urged the people of the area to vote massively for the first ever female parliamentary candidate for the area to lead them in the Ghanaian legislative house.

Since 1992, the area have not given opportunity to any female leadership.

In the upcoming election, Madam Georgina Lardi Azumah is the parliamentary candidate for the NPP in the Constituency. She’s facing contest from a health practitioner who is also making his debut on the ticket of the NDC.

Mr. Ali Haruna thinks having seen the activities and initiatives taken so far by the parliamentary candidate, she deserve the nod to represent the people of the area in parliament.

He mentioned the support of women groups in the area, the support of health facilities and many others.

Women and children are the most vulnerable in developing areas like Garu, and having someone who prioritise them would go a long way to help reduce poverty and suffering.

The new DCE also thanked President Akufo-Addo for his appointment and was full of gratitude to the assembly members and the traditional rulers for the support in his confirmation.

He promised to work hand in hand with the relevant stakeholders in the area in order for progress to prevail.
