Ghana Bar Association’s hypocrisy is nauseating – NDC’s Legal Affairs Director

The Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has slammed the Ghana Bar Association (GBA) for criticizing former President John Dramani Mahama over his comments that the judiciary has been packed with NPP-aligned judges.

Speaking on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV, Godwin Tamakloe stated unequivocally that the actions of the GBA are not only unacceptable but also an eyesore that needs remedy as soon as possible.

“What has become the conduct of the GBA in the 6 years of misrule of the Akufo-Addo administration, not even a day has the Bar had the courage to say that let’s challenge this misconduct of the Akufo-Addo in any of our courts but the Bar find it convenient to criticize John Mahama. I wasn’t surprised at all when I saw as usual the Bar coming so hard at John Mahama, it is the hypocrisy of the Bar that is nauseating,” he said.

Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, who is also a member of the Ghana Bar Association noted that “we have the presence of mind now to speak before it becomes too late for the stability of this country”.

He also said it would be late to call on friends to “make noise” should GBA continue on its current tangent.

“Nobody will dispute the fact that of the 41 justices at the Court of Appeal, 31 are appointees of Akufo-Addo. You can’t also dispute that out of the 13 justices in the Supreme Court, 11 are direct appointments of President Akufo-Addo, that is the data and if you do not find that worrying then you are hypocritical” he added.
