Ghanaian midfielder Cletus Nombil signs for Czech Republic topflight side FC Zlin

The 23-year-old defensive midfielder joins on a 3-and-a-half-year deal from Slovakia’s second division Petržalka for an undisclosed fee.

“He is an intelligent footballer, a central player. Technically and physically, he is very well equipped, he has an overview of the game, which he can also read. It is more valid in the defensive direction, but it can also attack, and play an action. I’ve seen him on quite a few videos. I know what he can do. He is already training with us, he should jump into the match soon,” said FC Zlín coach Bronislav Červenka.

Cletus played in 16 league games for Petržalka in the first round of the Slovakia second-tier league, providing six assists and impressing a host of clubs, including Slovakian giants, Slovan Bratislava.

The Ghanaian has in the past also played for Dreams FC, Eleven Wonders, Hapoel Kfar Saba, and Hapoel Jerusalem, where he helped the team secure promotion to the Israeli topflight league for the first time in over a decade.
