Ghana’s performance at AFCON 2023 one of the worst in history – Henry Asante Twum

Ghana’s disappointing AFCON campaign saw them finish third and knocked out of the group for the second consecutive time. Ghana was in group B which included Cape Verde, Egypt, and Mozambique.

The Black Stars suffered a 2-1 defeat to Cape Verde and managed back-to-back 2-2 draws against Egypt and Mozambique, which saw them finish third and eliminated in the group stage of the competition.

The Ghana national team and its managerial board have been on the receiving end of insults and disappointment from Ghanaian supporters after crashing out of the tournament in the group stage for the second time in a role.

The Communications Director for the Ghana Football Association, Mr. Henry Asante Twum said in an interview with Gideon Okyere Anim on Original FM that the Black Stars did not perform well in the tournament hence were ousted from the AFCON

“We did not perform well and we had to leave the tournament, ‘’ he said.

The Ghana FA is looking for a new coach after terminating the contract of Chris Hughton following a disappointing performance at the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), where the team failed to advance beyond the group stage.
