Afenyo Markin threatens to get Effutu MCE fired

The Member of Parliament for Effutu Constituency, Alexander Afenyo Markin, has threatened to get the Municipal Chief Executive for the area removed from office over the haphazard sales of land and siting of buildings.

According to the MP, the trend is making it difficult to have space for state sponsored developmental projects.

Winneba, capital of the Effutu Municipality is rapidly growing in size as new buildings continue to spring up.

However, much attention have not been paid to spatial planning by the municipal assembly causing developers to build haphazardly.

In a recent development, a main road leading to the Woarabeba Community was diverted and a permanent structure built on the tarred road.

There’s also a creeping development of lands being sold indiscriminately by some individuals.

Displeasure d by the turn of events, Member of Parliament for the area who doubles as the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo Markin has tasked the Effutu Municipal Assembly to correct the anomalies.

Addressing members of the Woarabeba Community during the commissioning of a community centre, the MP urged the Municipal Chief Executive, Alhaji Kasim Zubeiru to pay attention to the matters.

He said he’d be left with no option but to recommend for the removal from office the MCE should he fail in that regard as according to him, it is mostly difficult for the siting of developmental projects by government due to the situation.

Afenyo Markin has also admonished individuals and traditional leaders of the area to desist from selling prime lands that can be used for government sponsored developmental projects.

Speaking at a sod cutting ceremony for the construction of an office complex for the Effutu Municipal Immigration Command at Nsuekyir, the MP pledged to stick with the dream to make Winneba a gateway to the Central Region hence the need for the deliberate reservation of lands to attract the needed infrastructure.
