Former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology & Innovation, Professor Kwabena Frimpong-Boateng has said that God is not happy with all individuals destroying the environment through illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.
The former Chairman of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM) noted that the wrath of God will definitely come upon all persons engaged in illegal mining which is destroying the beautiful creation of the Almighty God.
The world-renowned heart surgeon made this declaration while addressing a breakfast meeting organized by the Kumasi Chapter of the Full Gospel Business Men’s Fellowship to mark its 40th anniversary.
Quoting the Holy Scripture to buttress his point, he noted that Revelation 11:18 which reads, “the nations are angry, and your wrath has come. The time has come for you to punish the dead, and for rewarding your servants the prophets and saints who revere your name and to punish those who destroy the earth” is a clear evidence that God does not deal lightly with people who destroy the environment.
He, therefore, bemoaned the recklessness with which the environment is being destroyed in the name of extracting the precious minerals endowed in the earth adding that God abhors such acts.
“We are supposed to be caretakers of these things, but we are messing them up, and we think we are smart and God is not happy with us,” Professor Frimpong-Boateng declared.
