Gov’t postpones mid-year budget review to July 31

Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, has postponed the reading of the 2023 Mid-Year Budget Review for the third time.

Mr. Ofori-Atta is expected to read the mid-year budget review on Monday, July 31, 2023.

The minister was initially scheduled to present the budget on July 27, 2023, but was later rescheduled for July 25, 2023, only to be canceled again until further notice.

The last-minute cancellation of the budget review has piqued the interest of Members of Parliament (MPs) and the general public, with many theories arising regarding the likely reasons for the postponement.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, said in a communication to the House that the Finance Minister would hold an intensive meeting with MPs on Friday, July 28, 2023, before the rescheduled presentation.
