Kasoa: False missing genital accusations leave one dead, religious leader in critical condition

The issue of male genitalia disappearance has reared its ugly head once more at Kasoa in the Central region, as false accusations led to mob justice that claimed one life and another in critical condition at Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital.

The deceased, according to Metro TV’s Central Regional Correspondent Akwasi Addo, was accused of stealing a man’s manhood, and fell victim to a frenzied mob at Adade near Kasoa, succumbing to injuries inflicted during the brutal assault.

Meanwhile, a religious leader who faced a similar accusation also received severe beatings and now fights for his life at the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, with critical brain bleeding and near-total loss of vision in one eye.

The Central East Regional Police Commander, DCOP Owusu Bempah, disclosed to Metro News that 30 suspects have been arrested in connection with these incidents, adding that investigations into these harrowing incidents are underway, shedding light on the alarming rise of mob violence in the region.

However, the court has already sentenced five individuals involved in these cases, while others await trial as the legal system grapples with the complexity of these incidents. Moreover, several individuals who falsely raised alarms regarding missing genitals find themselves remanded, underscoring the urgency for accurate information and the consequences of inciting public panic.

As medical examinations fail to substantiate any claims of genital disappearance, authorities issue a stern warning against spreading false accusations, emphasizing the severe legal repercussions awaiting those caught in the web of deception. The police caution individuals against partaking in mob justice, stressing the importance of upholding the rule of law and allowing due process to prevail.
