NPP flagbearership race: Bawumia is the worst candidate — Felix Kwakye Ofosu

Former Deputy Communications Minister, Mr. Felix Kwakye Ofosu, says the New Patriotic Party (NPP) does not stand a chance in the 2024 general elections.

According to the staunch NDC member, “They [NPP] are in a race to nowhere.” He is of the view that all 10 aspirants are not capable of winning the 2024 elections.”

“None of them can hold a matchstick to president Mahama. His achievements overshadow everybody,” Felix Kwakye Ofosu said on Good Morning Ghana on Metro TV on Tuesday, July 18, 2023.

He described the most popular person in the NPP flagbearership race, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as the worst option to lead the elephant party to the general elections which is to take place next year.

“I also think that even though Bawumia is in the lead, it is understandable he is the vice president, they’ve seen him and all so they think that perhaps, he goes with the flow, but he’s also the worst person on that ticket because what we the NDC can do to him, we cannot necessarily do to the others because they do not have a record,” he opined.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has scheduled its presidential primaries for November 4, 2023, to choose a candidate for the 2024 general elections.

There are ten contenders vying for the party’s flagbearer position, namely Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, Kwadwo Poku, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, Boakye Agyarko, Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, Dr. Kofi Konadu Apraku, Dr. Owusu Afriyie Akoto, Joe Ghartey, and Francis Addai-Nimoh.

In addition, the parliamentary primaries are set to take place in February 2024, with nominations being accepted from December 20, 2023, to January 4, 2024.
