Overwhelmed Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic appeals for urgent ward expansion

The Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic, known for its service in handling mass casualties along the Kasoa-Akoti-Okyereko stretch of the N1 highway, is facing a critical challenge.

Despite accolades for its performance, including consecutive awards as the best performing Polyclinic in the Central Region, the facility grapples with overcrowding and inadequate ward space.

The situation has compelled workers at the facility to resort to improvising wards in the corridors to accommodate the surge of patients, compromising the quality of healthcare delivery.

With a current capacity of only 13 wards, the Polyclinic struggles to meet the demands of its catchment area, including patients from the Gomoa East District.

Concerned residents who heavily rely on the facility for essential health services, have raised alarm bells, urging stakeholders to intervene and support the expansion efforts.

Management has taken a proactive stance, announcing plans to construct a new ward to alleviate the strain on existing infrastructure, but they told Metro TV’s Central Regional Correspondent Akwasi Addo that there is urgent need for assistance to make this a reality.

He emphasized that it is imperative for government and corporate entities to step in and provide the necessary resources for the construction of the new ward.

The fate of Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic hangs in the balance, underscoring the pressing need for swift and concerted efforts to ensure quality healthcare remains accessible to the people of Gomoa Potsin and its environs.
