Parliament to conduct headcount on 2024 Budget

Parliament is scheduled to hold a headcount vote regarding the approval of the 2024 budget.

After the debate on Wednesday, November 29, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, called for a voice vote in favor of the Majority on the approval of the budget.

But the Minority Caucus overturned the decision and chose a headcount instead, which prompted the Majority group to organize a walkout.

The Speaker, Alban Bagbin, then declared that a headcount vote on the government’s economic policy and budget statement approval would take place today, December 7, in order to clear the way for the approval of budget estimates.
