Scores feared dead in accident on Kasoa-Cape Coast highway

Eight funeral attendees have perished in a vehicular collision that occurred at Mustapha near Potsin Junction on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway.

The passenger vehicle carrying the victims crashed with a cargo truck resulting in the fatalities.

Eight out of the 13 passengers on board the commercial vehicle died on the spot.

2 out of the surviving 5 also had life-threatening injuries and were rushed to the Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital as a result of the Saturday morning crash.

According to eyewitnesses, a cargo truck with registration AS 8740 S heading towards Winneba’s direction was obstructed by another vehicle.

In order to avoid running into it, the driver made an unsuccessful maneuver and crashed into the Hyundai H100 passenger vehicle which was conveying funeral attendees from Gomoa Afransie to Kasoa.

The Kasoa-Winneba-Mankesim stretch has become increasingly dangerous for road users.

Many more lives continue to be lost as a result of rampant accident cases.

Residents along the stretch are demanding speed reduction mechanisms to be put in place on the stretch even as vehicle users are admonished to observe road traffic regulations as well as maintain a reasonable speed whilst using the stretch.
