The General Secretary of the Ghana Medical Association (GMA), Dr. Richard Selormey, has appealed to the public to exercise restraint and seek a comprehensive understanding of the real cause regarding the passing of Kofi Owusu Duah Anto, also known as KODA.
In an interview on Metro TV on Monday April 22, 2024, Dr. Selormey emphasized the importance of considering multiple perspectives and facts before drawing conclusions. He pointed out that the widely circulated video, in which the deceased claimed to have received the wrong medicine prescriptions, lacks crucial details that are essential to understanding the situation.
While acknowledging the gravity of the situation, Dr. Selormey cautioned that patients have a critical role to play in ensuring their own safety and well-being.
He stressed the importance of full disclosure, urging individuals to provide their doctors with accurate and complete information about their medical history, symptoms, and any medications they are taking.
“Thorough diagnosis and prescription can only be achieved when patients provide their doctors with comprehensive information,” Dr. Selormey emphasized.
“We urge the public to remain calm and seek balanced information before jumping to conclusions.”
The GMA General Secretary’s appeal comes amid growing public concern and outrage over the incident, which has sparked debates about medical professionalism and patient care in Ghana. As the investigation into the matter continues, Dr. Selormey’s called for a nuanced understanding of the situation, which is seen as a crucial step towards uncovering the truth and promoting improved healthcare outcomes.
