Stop Lying; You Never Paid $3 Million Debt For NPP in 1992 – Kwabena Agyepong Fires Kennedy Agyapong

Former General Secretary of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP) and a flagbearer hopeful, Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has discredited some campaign messages of his colleague, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, also a flagbearer aspirant of the party.

The current Member of Parliament for Assin Central who is gunning to lead the party in the 2024 General Elections in touting some sacrifices he has made for the party claimed that he has repaid a $3 million loan contracted by the party in 1992 including other sacrifices.

The maverick and vociferous politician made this disclosure to justify his bid to lead the party when speaking in an interview with Accra-based Net 2 Television.

“I paid the loan with interest and it took us eight years, Supper Care Company LTD; my company took eight years to pay back the loan with interest. Three (3) million dollars at that time plus interest in 1992. Even today as we speak, $3 million is a lot of money how much more 31 years ago,” he said.

But reacting to the claims of Kennedy Ohene Agyapong on Accra-based Peace FM, Kwabena Agyepong discredited the claims of his colleague insisting it cannot be true.

According to Kwabena Agyapong, the MP for Assin Central’s claims is not true but an effort to distort the history of the party. He insisted that there is no record that can corroborate the claims of Kennedy Agyapong hence declaring that “nothing like that happened!.”

“Do you know what 3 million dollars in 1992 in this Ghana? What was even the stated capital of the bank that we set up? It is not possible that someone will bring us 3 million dollars in 1992 and we won’t hear…The biggest amount of money that came was 10,000 pounds from the UK branch and 35,000 dollars from USA. We should not distort history…nothing like that happened!”, he exclaimed.
