Voltarians are now ‘irrelevant’ to NDC course- Kofi Akpaloo

The Volta Region is where the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) receives the majority of its electoral votes, and the locals there have allegedly been treated disrespectfully.

The statement was expressed explicitly by Kofi Akpaloo, the presidential candidate of the Liberal Party of Ghana (LPG), who is a native of the Volta Region. He stated that the NDC merely exploits the people of the Volta Region for electoral purposes and then discards them.

He says he doesn’t understand why the NDC chose a candidate from outside the Volta Region to compete with former President John Mahama as the party’s presidential nominee in 2024.

The well-known and vocal Kofi Akpaloo said that, given the Volta Region’s long history of active support for the NDC, the party ought to have selected a representative from the region to serve as their running partner in the next elections.

The LPG presidential candidate asserts that the Volta Region hasn’t received any recognition from the NDC despite the region’s long and devoted service, saying that it is now widely known that the NDC has long taken advantage of its citizens.

Kofi Akpaloo stated unequivocally that the NDC does not wish to compensate the people of the Volta Region for their invaluable electoral support, just seeking to garner an enormous number of votes from them.

Recounting the history of the Volta Region’s long history of support for the NDC, he stated that in an ideal world, the NDC would have selected a Volta Region local to be former President Mahama’s running mate in the 2024 elections.

“The NDC only wants Volta votes but they (NDC) are not interested in giving a running mate position to a Voltarian,” Kofi Akpaloo said on Otec FM in Kumasi to buttress his claim that indeed the NDC has taken the Volta Region for granted.
