Accident at Potsin leaves two Police Officers in critical condition

Two Police Officers have been admitted at the Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic after sustaining severe injuries as a result of an accident on the Kasoa-Winneba Highway.

The vehicle, which was carrying the officers took a spin and crashed with another after crushing into the rear of a tipper truck.

According to an eyewitness, the two police officers, Innocent Amedume, a Police Assistant and Matilda Boateng, a Crime Officer both stationed at the Greater Accra Regional Police Command were heading to the Adisadel College in Cape Coast to attend to a disciplinary action taken against a ward of the latter in a Toyota Corolla salon car with registration AS 3677-14.

Innocent Amedume who was handling the vehicle however veered off his lane causing driver of a tipper truck registered GT 8409-23 facing the Kasoa direction to signal caution by blowing his horn.

An attempt by the driver of the salon car to switch back to his lane became unsuccessful as he crashed into the rear tyre of the truck and also crashing into a Honda Pilot SUV with registration GT 8111-11.

The impact of the crash caused the Toyota Corolla to take a spin and faced back towards Kasoa and the Honda Pilot running into the bush.

Occupants of both the tipper truck and the Honda Pilot however escaped unscathed.

The two police officers who got badly injured were rescued by local emergency responders and taken to the Gomoa Potsin Polyclinic where they are currently being treated.
