Akufo-Addo Swears In Two New Judges

Two new judges have been sworn in to the High Court by President Akufo-Addo.

They were Justices Ama Sefenya Ayittey and Dorothy Ayodele Kingsley-Nyinah.

However, he admonished them and the rest of the judiciary to be mindful of any delays in the decision-making process for cases that are brought before them.

This came after the judicial oath, the oath of allegiance, and the oath of secrecy had been administered.

His worry was that the country’s growing reputation for protracted legal proceedings, which he claimed made it less appealing to potential investors.

“I urge you to be sensitive to undue delays that project the image of Ghana as a destination where litigation takes too long. This affects the attractiveness of the country as an investment destination”, he said.

The President used the occasion to urge judges to take advantage of the case adjudication alternatives offered to them by technology in the current day.

He asserted that using technology tools will significantly speed up case adjudication and assure prompt justice delivery in the nation.

“I encourage both of you to take full advantage of the e-justice system [launched in 2021] in order to expedite the conduct of cases that come before you and enhance the management of cases before the court”, the President said.
