Deputy Education Minister-designate stands firm on SHS food quality commitment

Kingsley Nyarko, the Deputy Education Minister-Designate, says he does not think the Ministry will do anything that will compromise the feeding in Senior High Schools.

He added that he is aware there are monitoring interventions in place to ensure that quality food is provided for learners. He further indicated his stance that,the Government should not intentionally lower the standard of food provided to the students in the Senior High Schools.

Kingsley Nyarko said this when he appeared before the vetting committee,on Tuesday 12th March 2024. This was in response to a comment made by the First Deputy Speaker of Parliament and the Chairman of the Appointment Committee Hon Joseph Osei-Owusu on the quality of food served in Senior High Schools.

According to Kingsley Nyarko, it is vital to prioritize the welfare of students particularly when it pertains to fundamental necessity like food.

“The Education Ministry has kick-start a countrywide fact-finding mission due to the heightened public outcry following the Joy News documentary” he added.

Kingsley Nyarko’s indicated his dedication to upholding high-quality standards as well as his commitment to ensuring the best for students in the Educational sector.
