E/R: Stop imposing insurance policy on incoming service personnel – Concerned NASPA executives to NSS

The concerned executives of the National Service Personnel Association (NASPA) Eastern Region chapter have demanded the immediate halt of the compulsory insurance policy on National Service personnel.

The Concerned NASPA executives in the region are calling for the National Service regional secretariat to reconsider its actions of forcefully enrolling incoming service personnel on the SIC and GLICO insurance policies.

“What happens if a person in an attempt to provide wrong details enters my service number for SIC and a different person does the same for GLICO, meaning I will be deducted for 2 different insurance policies without my notice which is very worrying and has caused a lot to the current service year group and as a matter of urgency we demand that they put a stop to it,” the Concerned NASPA executives stated in a statement.

They also cautioned all incoming national service personnel who are yet to do their regional validation to read any forms given to them thoroughly before appending their signatures and they should insist on not signing if they disagree with the dictates of the forms and take pictures.

“Find a way of identifying anyone who forces an insurance policy on you in order to report the case to the Eastern Regional NSS secretariat,” the statement added.

Subsequently, the Kwahu South NASPA President, Shadrach Appiah described the situation as unfortunate and urged his members to resist it.

Speaking to Metro TV’s Kofi Adjei, Mr. Appiah called on the Eastern Regional National Service Scheme to as a matter of urgency discard the policy and allow NSS personnel to go and serve the country as mandated by law.
