Gold Coast Fund customers give Finance Ministry one-week ultimatum to reengage them

Aggrieved customers of Gold Coast Fund Management have expressed disappointment in the Finance Ministry for failing to update them on their unpaid funds.

In a letter addressed to the ministry on October 31, 2023, they stated that “The two weeks’ timeline set for the second meeting elapsed on Thursday, October 26th, 2023 without seeing any pragmatic effort from your office nor the Finance Ministry to set up the agreed meeting. Notwithstanding, we have made several calls to remind the Finance Ministry and have still not been given a date.”

The letter further stated the reason for the meeting as follows:

  1. To relay the government’s feedback to us, on our demand for immediate payment from the Parliamentary Approved Bailout Package
  2. To hold a stakeholder meeting amongst; the Finance Ministry, Securities and Exchange Commission, Attorney General, Registrar of Companies, The Minister of State for Finance Ministry and The Leadership of the Aggrieved Customers to iron out ‘the securing of the Liquidation Order’ which the government subsequently set as a condition to payment of our funds which is locked-up for the past five (5) years.
  1. The Finance Ministry to provide detailed information on the components Expenditure on the 26 billion Ghana Cedis the Ministry claims it has spent to clean the Financial Sector.

The group is urging the Finance Ministry to reengage and communicate with them in one week from the date of the letter.

“The Leadership and members of the Aggrieved Gold Coast Customers hesitate to believe that your initial approach of engagement was a pre-calculated strategy to merely end the heated protest at the Finance Ministry, hence; the inability of your office to even communicate to reschedule the failed meeting,” the statement noted.
