Ejura shooting: Victims grateful for compensation

The joint Committee of Victims of the Ejura shooting Incident has expressed gratitude to the government for honouring its pledge to compensate victims following the unfortunate event.

In a statement dated February 20, 2023, the Committee announced to the general public that the victims have received the complete payment of compensation.

This comes at the back of some citizens who were brutally killed and injured by the military at a demonstration in 2021.

The committee expressed profound gratitude to Mr. Oliver Barker Vormawor for his legal representation on the issue, adding that they could not have achieved this without his assistance.

The committee also thanked one Erastus Asare Donkor for being a vital part of their success story.

The committee, however, promised to put in more work needed to ensure that officers, political actors, and anyone found culpable to the atrocities committed during the demonstration be subjected to the law.

They further called on the Ghana Armed Forces to respond to their Right to Information request in hopes of knowing actions taken to punish perpetrators.

They also urged the necessary authorities to be up and doing in order to serve justice to the family of the late social activist, Macho Kaaka who was caught up in the clash.
