Hawa Koomson threatens to sue GJA President over blacklist

Member of Parliament for the Awutu Senya East Constituency, Mavis Hawa Koomson has threatened to sue the Ghana Journalist Association’s (GJA) President, Albert Dwumfour on the directive for media practitioners and media houses to blacklist her over the assault of a journalist.

According to the MP who describes the decision as unfair, the GJA President in a telephone conversation with her after the attack on the Cape FM Journalist during the NPP’s vetting of parliamentary aspirants at the regional coordinating council’s office in Cape Coast pledged to send her some visuals of the assault incident and also launch an investigations to reveal the identity of the attackers.

However, she says the said videos were never sent, neither did she receive the outcome of the suggested investigations or heard anyone named as the attacker.

According to her, she only heard through the media that a blacklist policy was announced against her.

Addressing the issue for the first time, the Minister of Fisheries told Metro News that the directive came as a surprise to her and believes the GJA was not fair in drawing its conclusion.

She suggests the directive is an attempt to dent her image and has threatened to take the GJA President Albert Dwumfuor on by instituting a court action against him.
