Leave Bawumia To Campaign On His Own – Kwabena Agyepong to Akufo-Addo, Party Machinery

One of the flagbearer aspirants of the governing New Patriotic Party (NPP), Kwabena Agyei Agyepong has registered its displeasure with the incumbency advantage and the indirect support by the party machinery enjoyed by the Vice President, Dr. Bawumia ahead of the party’s Presidential Primaries.

According to the former General Secretary of the NPP, the party is not providing a level playing field for all the aspirants which is very unfair.

Speaking on Accra-based Peace FM, the flagbearer aspirants accused the party executives, who he says are supposed to be neutral, of providing support in various forms for the vice president whiles President Akufo-Addo looks on.

He, therefore, advised the leadership of the party to leave Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia to campaign on his own strength as other aspirants are doing in order to provide a fair and balanced platform for all.

Moreover, the former NPP General Secretary alleged that some party members are being coerced to follow the Vice President to campaign.

” Dr. Bawumia has been Vice President for seven (7) years, he has his own strength so they should let him conduct his own campaign . . . it’s difficult, we source for our own campaign funds, but for him as Vice President, he is fortunate because of state resources (vehicle, fuel, etc . . .), they should let him run his own campaign devoid of these logistical support,” he said.

“The President cannot play the ostrich and pretend he is not privy to what is going on,” he appealed to Nana Akufo-Addo to ensure a level playing field.
