Leslie Tamakloe gives Oti Regional NDC GH₵50k to run up limited voter registration

The Oti Regional National Democratic Congress (NDC) has received a GH₵50,000 cash donation to support their bid to mobilize newly eligible voters to partake in the limited voter registration exercise in the region.

The donation was made by Mr. Leslie Mensah Tamakloe, a prominent figure of the NDC and founder of Internet Ghana Company Limited.

This follows a similar donation he made to the Volta Regional branch of the NDC.

Since most newly eligible voters may not be able to afford the expense of transportation, the funds are intended to help with their transportation to the Electoral Commission district offices for the continuing limited voter registration exercise.

The limited voter registration exercise commenced on Tuesday, September 12, 2023.

It is aimed at registering eligible Ghanaians who have attained the voting age or above but whose names are not captured in the voter register.

The exercise will end on October 2, 2023.

Making the donation on behalf of Mr. Mensah Tamakloe to the regional chairman and his executives, Mr. Ekwaw Acquah, the spokesperson for the staunch NDC supporter indicated the need for such financial support to the party.

“In respect of our quest as a democratic party to wrestle power from the NPP, it becomes essential to fully ensure that all primary electoral activities are monitored successfully,” he stated.

“With the commencement of the limited voter registration and its inconvenience of having the EC district offices as central points, it is required of us to ensure a sufficient input of financial resources to facilitate the mobilization of our people to be registered,” he added.

“Each of the nine constituencies benefits GH₵5,000, totaling GH₵45,000. The regional executive committee receives GH₵5,000 to enable it to monitor the registration process across the region,” he said.

Mr. Acquah noted that Mr. Tamakloe believes that the donation would greatly support the party’s efforts.

“I believe this will go a long way to help the party meet its target of registrants in the region. It is my pleasure,” he stated.
