Vice President Bawumia has emphasized the necessity of increasing investments in the creation and use of electric vehicles.

In his opinion, doing so would prevent future environmental degradation in addition to saving the enormous expense of fuel purchases and maintenance.

This occurred on a Wednesday afternoon when he visited the Solar Taxi offices in Accra, a ride-hailing network that only uses electric vehicles.

He claimed that the government’s mission to encourage the use of Ghana’s electric-based transportation system in order to reduce greenhouse gases and assure lower transportation costs was in line with the goals of the e-vehicle company.

In addition, he stated that it is in line with the global strategy to switch from the use of petroleum and gas to renewable energy sources.

As a result, he vowed that the government will help the local manufacturer of electric vehicles, Solar Taxi, increase its output.

“We’ll support you, you can count on us. We will open the channels and remove the bottlenecks to scale up. This is not about you, it’s about us as a nation”, he said.

Dr. Bawumia asserted that an electric vehicle firm in a developing country like Ghana could surpass companies in developed nations and expressed optimism that Solar Taxi will succeed in setting the pace for the adoption of electric vehicles in Ghana and throughout Africa with the right assistance.
