Man, 70, commits suicide by hanging at Assin Kushia

A 70-year-old man, identified as Opanin Amissah has allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Assin Kushia in the Assin North District of the Central Region.

Okyere Si-Abour, who spoke with Metro News believes the deceased died out of hardship.

According to him, the deceased though not from the area, had been living in the town for almost 10 years, engaging in menial jobs like weeding people’s farms for money.

He said the deceased has not been able to fulfill his obligation to weed the farms he has collected their monies to weed their farm yard ,due to illness and while not able to accommodate the pressure from the farmers, he opted to commit suicide.

Report gathered by Metro News revealed that the deceased has been complaining about hardship to his friends always.

They said he has attempt suicide many times but failed. However, this time, he locked his doors and hanged himself on Wednesday September 6, 2023, in the evening.

He left behind three Children.

The Assin Praso Police Command has deposited his body at the Assin Fosu St. Francis Xevier Hospital Mortuary for autopsy and preservation.

Meanwhile, investigations have been instituted into the matter to ascertain the real cause of death.
